On a one-way ticket towards a new chapter in our lives!

A short while ago I got a new exciting job. In Sydney, Australia!
This was the culmination of an idea that came to us last September on our 4 month world trip when we visited Australia. After a few days in Sydney we agreed that this was an extremely liveable city. A place we could see us call home for a while. And so a dream arose.

Both of us live and breathe for adventure, and I believe everyone we know have said ‘Yes, of course you guys are moving to another country. That’s so much you!’

Before deciding to pursue a job in Sydney, we of course had a lot of thoughts and talks – mainly around leaving family and friends behind. But what has hit me during this period is how natural the decision came to us, how good it feels to do what we dream of, how little material things really mean (well, maybe not counting our beloved espresso machine that we have left behind…), and how many great people we have in our lives whom we look forward to welcome in our new (yet unknown) home. And when it all came down to it, we both want to live in the moment and pursue our dreams.

During the last two weeks we have closed down our life in Denmark for the coming years. We have spent a lot of time with our wonderful family and friends. So much that Carla even asked almost sleeping ‘Who are we going to visit now?’ after being dragged around to coffee and then dinner with different sets of friends. But despite the busy times socializing and packing, it’s an amazing feeling being surrounded by so many great people! We look forward to seeing you all Down Under!

We are now, for a short period, both homeless and jobless. It is not a definite goodbye to Denmark, but a perfect moment of opportunity while the kids are still so small. And I know its cliché, but I do believe that Carpe Diem are words to live by 😉

Writing this I’m sitting in a plane. We are going to Bangkok on a one-way ticket while we wait for the working visa to Australia. There are still so many unknowns. But onboard this plane I have my boyfriend, our two amazing kids, and 4 heavy bags of clothes and toys. That’s all we are bringing to start a new chapter in our lives, and I feel so free and so alive!

Planning the first part of our new adventure – the time before we go to Australia – has been difficult because we actually don’t know how long we have, and it has not been a priority since it’s our new life in Australia we have focused on. But what I do know is where we will sleep for the next 3 nights and that, eventually, we will get our working visa for Australia and start new exciting jobs. What I don’t know is when we will get the visa (one month? two? more?), what we will do before it arrives, where we will stay in Sydney, where the kids will go to kindergarten, and basically everything else you can think of asking us 🙂 But what some people would feel chaotic is for us a pretty great feeling. Love the thrill of the unknown!

I’ll keep you all updated on our adventure and new life. So keep an eye out for new blogposts and find out what’s coming next – I have a feeling it will be beach life in Thailand for some weeks 🙂

…after 10 hours on the plane, where both kids got a good sleep and acted like it was morning despite it was around midnight Danish time when we arrived in Bangkok!
